GTA V districts and regions: how to recognize them
Winning at GTA V GeoGuessr starts with recognizing which region you are in. Here are the main districts and areas of the map, with the clues that set them apart. They also help you place your pin with the magnifier.
Central Los Santos
- Downtown and Pillbox Hill
- Glass skyscrapers, a grid of streets and heavy traffic. The Maze Bank tower, the tallest in the city, dominates the district.
- Vinewood
- The film district: stars on the sidewalks of Vinewood Boulevard, neon signs, theatres and palm trees.
- Rockford Hills and Vinewood Hills
- Rockford Hills lines up luxury boutiques and wide, palm-lined avenues. Above it, the Vinewood hills show villas, winding roads and broad views over the city.
- Mirror Park
- A residential area of colourful houses and sloping streets around a park with a lake.
- Little Seoul
- Tightly packed shops and Korean-language signs: the most telling clue of the district.
The south and the west coast
- Davis, Strawberry, Chamberlain Hills and Rancho
- Working-class neighbourhoods: small low houses, chain-link fences, graffiti and narrow streets. Grove Street is in Chamberlain Hills.
- The Port of Los Santos and Elysian Island
- Cranes, containers, warehouses and railway tracks: an industrial setting unlike any other.
- Los Santos International Airport (LSIA)
- Runways, planes, car parks and airport signs, in the south-west of the city.
- Vespucci Beach, Del Perro and the canals
- The beach, the boardwalk, the Del Perro pier with its Ferris wheel and the Vespucci canals. A skate park and open-air gyms complete the picture.
- Pacific Bluffs, Chumash and the coast road
- Cliffs, a road running along the ocean and quieter beaches, west of Vinewood.
Blaine County
- Sandy Shores and the Grand Senora Desert
- Sand, cacti, rusty trailers and open skies around the salt lake of the Alamo Sea.
- Grapeseed and Harmony
- Farmland north-east of the Alamo Sea: farms, barns, fields and straight roads.
- Mount Chiliad and the northern forests
- Conifers, mountain roads and open views; the Mount Chiliad cable car is a famous landmark.
- Paleto Bay and Paleto Forest
- A small wooden coastal town, a sawmill and large forests, in the far north-west of the map.
- Hills and canyons
- Between the city and the desert, dry hills, canyons and winding roads, with few buildings to get your bearings.
How to train
Pick the “City” zone to learn the districts one by one, then “Hills and countryside” to get used to wide open spaces, and finally the whole map. Night mode asks you to recognize places by their signs and lighting rather than their colours.
